Guide to provide resort pick-up and transportation during outing
How about covering both sides of the highest peak in Sedona in just one day? This outing will bring you from the South, to North side of Wilson Mountain, on a one-way adventure. Prepare to see literally every rock in Sedona, in just one full, most unforgettable day!! The hike begins at Grasshopper Point and ascends rapidly to the Southern summit of Wilson Mountain.
Using a one-way hike, this outing will transfer from the southern summit of Wilson Mountain, to the northern rim, where you will overlook the breath-taking sacred canyons of Sedona. Along the path, you will have stunning elevated perspectives of: Mitten Ridge, Steamboat Rock, Ship Rock, Oak Creek Canyon, Munds Canyon, Brins Mesa, Boynton Canyon, Mogollon Rim, Humphrey's Peak, Counterfeit Canyon, Vultee Arch, and Bear Mountain. After viewing both ends of Wilson Mountain, you will descend North Wilson Mountain Trail to reach the second vehicle.
This trail follows through high-desert flora, as this portion of the hike is precisely located on the Upper Sonoran Desert's most northern edge. Soon, the trail ascends to a basalt covered, thriving, coniferous summit on its southern rim. The hike across the summits, leads through an area rich in wildflowers and commonly containing: deer, horned toads, sonoran whiptails, butterflies, and bald eagles to name a few... The views along the northern rim are arguably the most breath-taking in Red Rock Country.
This site makes for one of the best picnic locations in the entire state, with overwhelming views of Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness, Sycamore Canyon Wilderness, and Kachina Peaks Wilderness in front of you. Lastly, it escapes to a hidden lush paradise of canyon grape, ferns, and incredible photo opportunities of East Pocket, the edge Colorado Plateau, and elevated views of Oak Creek and Munds Canyons.
If you're ready to push yourself and looking for one of the hardest hikes in Sedona, this is your perfect choice for an epic experience you will never forget!!
